Weekly Challenges and Emotional Alphabets
Today marks the beginning of a couple of new ideas I've had that I'm going to finally bring to fruition. I've toyed with the idea of a 365 project multiple times and with every attempt, I've fallen off the wagon. I don't think it's necessarily too much pressure having to shoot something different everyday, I just had no incentive to shoot the things I would shoot. With no goals or real meaning, the whole thing kinda just fell apart each time. I think the idea of having a recurring challenge sounds enticing still, so I wanna spice it up a bit. Every week my girlfriend is going to create a challenge for me to do that she thinks I'll most likely have a hard time doing. This week's challenge is Fish. Yes, fish. You'd be surprised how hard it is to take nice photos of our damn fish. Every week on thursday, I'll be posting that weeks challenge and present the following weeks challenge. This week though, I'll be posting on friday, since thursday is national Indian pillage and rape day™.
I'm also going to be simultaneously starting up an alphabet project as well. If you're not familiar with the concept, an alphabet project is where you either take a photo for each letter that either conceptually represents that letter, is an object or place that starts with that letter or physically looks like that letter. For example, the letter M could be a mountain or movement or part of a bridge that looks like the letter M. My girlfriend once again came up with a different approach that would combine another idea I've been wanting to do which is to have each letter be represented by an emotion. Of course some letters will be harder than others (X anyone?) but this is something I've had in my evernote for years and never just pulled the trigger to do it. So you can look forward to a new letter, in alphabetical order, at the end of each week.
P.S. - I got a new haircut.
